It has converted and inspired countless people since it was first written in 397 AD approximately. This autobiographical piece of work, reflecting on Augustine's conversion story throughout the thirteen books. Although the Confessions has been translated numerous times, Augustine's story and reflections on sin, life, conversions, the Trinity, and movements toward Christianity continue to convert and inspire people around the world. He has influenced St. Thomas Aquinas, many other doctors of the Catholic church, as well as protestant reformers. St. Augustine stands as a Doctor of the Church, ever since 1298. The Confessions was debatably his most significant piece of work that gave him this title in the Catholic church. He wrote it at the age of about 40, after years of sin, suffering, healing, prayer, and a conversion of heart and soul. His Confessions stands as a beautiful piece of art, history, and prayer with genuine stories, experiences and refelections that have improved and inspired the lives of many.
